Bicester Good Neighbour Scheme helps isolated older people in the town and villages nearby.
Many of our BGNS friends are in their 80s and 90s; they may have limited mobility, sensory impairment, or just don’t feel safe going out on their own. They often live alone having been bereaved, and have no relatives on-hand to provide the social contact and practical help they need. That is when BGNS steps in and introduces them to one of our fantastic volunteers.
There is no charge for the help we provide. We keep our costs low but need to raise funds annually to cover the essentials, including manning the phone, volunteer recruitment, DBS paperwork, and home visits by our Scheme Coordinator.
